Sober Network Inc. announced on 8/19/16 that its FlexDek MAT Edition, www.FlexDek.net, designed and developed by Dr. Harold Jonas, won first place in a nationwide Opioid Recovery App Challenge sponsored by the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA). The SAMHSA Challenge encouraged the creation of apps to help patients receiving outpatient medication-assisted treatment for opioid use disorder maintain their recovery and avoid relapse. FlexDek MAT Edition was among numerous eligible entries presented from across the nation and was submitted by Sober Network’s Founder and CEO, entrepreneur and clinician Harold Jonas, PhD, LMHC, CAP.
Entries were reviewed by a panel of technology specialists and addiction and recovery experts. Evaluations were based on the apps’ contributions to meeting patient needs, creativity, innovation, and practicality of implementation. After an extensive review process, FlexDek MAT Edition was awarded first place by SAMHSA and a prize of $15,000 that will be used to further development and make the app available to those in recovery nationwide. The app is now in use at select treatment centers in Texas. The public beta now is available for iPhone and the release version will be announced and available for iOS and Android at the American Association for Treatment of Opioid Addiction Conference in Baltimore on October 29, 2016.
